CGI’s Advanced Inversion Software Powers Major Copper Discovery in Saudi Arabia

Press Release

In a recent announcement by Ivanhoe Electric and the Saudi Arabian Mining Company Ma’aden, the partners revealed a significant new copper discovery within the Arabian Shield. CGI played a pivotal role in this success, providing the industry-leading inversion software and data analytics used to process results from the Typhoon™ geophysical surveying system. This powerful combination allowed the exploration team to quickly identify two massive chargeability anomalies at the Umm Ad Dabah prospect, located near the existing Al Amar mine.

The speed and accuracy of CGI’s data processing were critical factors in this discovery. Our superior algorithms and machine-learning tools transformed terabytes of raw geophysical data into complex 3D models within 24 hours of receipt. This unprecedented efficiency enabled the joint venture to target and execute a drilling program that successfully intersected semi-massive to massive copper sulfides at depths exceeding 700 meters, including discovery hole UAD-005.

As exploration activities expand across 48,500 square kilometers of prospective land, CGI remains at the forefront of de-risking the search for critical metals. Our technology-driven platform is designed to locate deep-seated deposits of copper, gold, and nickel that traditional methods often miss, providing our clients with the high-resolution geological interpretations needed to unlock vast mineral potential worldwide.
