CGI’s Advanced Inversion Software to Power Major Copper Exploration Initiative in Chile

Press Release

Computational Geosciences Inc. (CGI) is proud to announce its pivotal role in a definitive exploration agreement between Ivanhoe Electric and Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM). This collaboration targets the discovery of Qualifying Copper Deposits—defined as containing at least one million tonnes of copper—across 2,002 square kilometers of highly prospective mining concessions in northern Chile.

The initiative combines Ivanhoe Electric’s powerful Typhoon™ geophysical surveying system with CGI’s industry-leading 3D data inversion software. By leveraging our advanced algorithms and machine learning capabilities, the team can "see" through electrically resistive caliche surface deposits that have historically blocked traditional exploration methods. Our technology provides the high-resolution subsurface modeling necessary to identify deep-seated mineralization and guide real-time drilling decisions in the field.

Our team is thrilled to collaborate on this project, which underscores the power of our technology to unlock mineral potential in the world’s most prolific copper regions. By accelerating the discovery of critical minerals, CGI, Ivanhoe Electric, and SQM are working together to support the global energy transition and secure the future of copper production.
